Jaclyn Scandinaro, LCPC, C-DBT, NCC
Founder of Evolving Minds Collective
Clinical Psychotherapist
Hi, I'm Jaclyn and my pronouns are she/her. (Learn more about pronouns here: https://www.mypronouns.org/.) I am a native New Englander, though proud to call Chicago my home over the last 13 years. I am someone who identifies as a “recovering perfectionist”, a foodie, a dog mom and a music and sneaker enthusiast.
As someone who has once worked both in the service industry and high volume sales prior to becoming a therapist, I know first hand the stress, pressure, anxiety and fear associated with these roles. I am also familiar with the feelings of being overworked and under-valued. Through my work, I have seen significant change in those who have had similar experiences and feelings as I once did.
Currently, I am a culturally sensitive and LGBTQ+ affirming Licensed Clinical Practicing Counselor (LCPC) and certified DBT therapist in the State of Illinois. In addition to therapy, I was the Chief Therapy Office and Improv Therapy instructor for several years with an organization formerly known as Improv Therapy Group, now Improv Mental Health Association.
I have earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adler University in Chicago. I have earBachelor’s of Arts Degree, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Music from Central Connecticut State University.
If you work with me, the most common therapeutic techniques I may use will be Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, harm reduction techniques, and Exposure Therapy (ERP). I may even throw some improv games in the mix because I believe there is healing within humor. I enjoy collaborating with and supporting those who live with anxiety. While I specialize in working with those living with OCD, I have also seen great results working with those who are in those high demanding sales roles, service industry folx and people who live with heightened anxiety and/or anxiety disorders.
Together, we will build trust, establish goals, embrace imperfection and create a reasonable structure that encourages you to grow, evolve and utilize the skills with confidence to reduce your anxiety!
